چکیده

Three Microwave Radiation Imagers (MWRI) were carried onboard the FengYun-3B/C/D satellites and have collected more than 10 years of data since 2010. To create a robust climate quality data, MWRI level one reprocessed with new calibration. This study evaluates performance retrieving global soil moisture from recalibrated (RCD) quantifies difference retrieved between operational calibration (OCD) RCD. Soil Moisture Operational Products System (SMOPS) products NOAA on four days different seasons collocated brightness temperatures, then used for training an algorithm through machine learning. The using OCD RCD evaluated against independent SMOPS products, in situ networks SMAP product. It is shown that random forest suitable FY-3D coefficient determination (R2) 0.7223, mean bias ?0.0062 unbiased root square (ubRMSD) 0.0476 m3 m?3 compared over period 12 July 2018 to 31 December 2019. spatially heterogeneous. Both temporal spatial coverage accuracy existing are significantly improved.

Environmental Data Records (EDRs) from FengYun-3B Microwave Radiation Imager (MWRI)

—Microwave Radiation Imager (MWRI) onboard the FengYun (FY)-3A/B satellites of China After extensive on-orbit calibrations, the MWRI Level-1 data were collocated in space and time with the data from Aqua AMSR-E, F18 SSMIS and TRMM TMI for cross-calibration. A forward radiative transfer model was used to simulate the clear sky brightness temperatures at the MWRI frequencies over ocean. The diffe...

Effect of Land Cover Heterogeneity on Soil Moisture Retrieval Using Active Microwave Remote Sensing Data

This study addresses the issue of the variability and heterogeneity problems that are expected from a sensor with a larger footprint having homogenous and heterogeneous sub-pixels. Improved understanding of spatial variability of soil surface characteristics such as land cover and vegetation in larger footprint are critical in remote sensing based soil moisture retrieval. This study analyzes th...

Assessment of Non-parametric Methods for Soil Moisture Retrieval from Active Microwave Data

Active microwave remote sensing observations hold the potential for efficient and reliable mapping of spatial soil moisture distributions. However, soil moisture retrievals from microwave remote sensing techniques are typically complex because of the inherent difficulty in characterizing the interactions among land surface parameters that contribute to the retrieval process. Therefore adequate ...

The effects of scene heterogeneity on soil moisture retrieval from passive microwave data

The Tau-Omega model of microwave emission from soil and vegetation layers is widely used to estimate soil moisture content from passive microwave observations. Its application to prospective satellite-based observations aggregating several thousand square kilometres requires understanding of the effects of scene heterogeneity. The effects of heterogeneity in soil surface roughness, soil moistur...

The Effect of Row Structure on Soil Moisture Retrieval Accuracy from Passive Microwave Data

Row structure causes the anisotropy of microwave brightness temperature (TB) of soil surface, and it also can affect soil moisture retrieval accuracy when its influence is ignored in the inversion model. To study the effect of typical row structure on the retrieved soil moisture and evaluate if there is a need to introduce this effect into the inversion model, two ground-based experiments were ...
